Local Route Driver

Job Summary

We are hiring a reliable and customer-focused Local Route Driver to manage daily deliveries and pickups within a specific geographic area. This role offers drivers the advantage of predictable schedules, daily home time, and steady mileage. As a Local Route Driver, you'll be responsible for safely transporting goods to and from business clients, retail locations, or distribution centers—playing a vital role in the day-to-day flow of local logistics operations.

Responsibilities

• Follow established delivery routes to complete scheduled stops within assigned areas.
• Load and unload goods using pallet jacks, liftgates, or manual methods when required.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and damage-free deliveries to customers.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers for delivery updates and issue resolution.
• Complete vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Maintain clean driving logs, proof of delivery, and customer signatures.
• Operate assigned vehicle safely and in compliance with local and federal regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid CDL and a clean, verifiable driving record.
• Previous experience in local or short-haul delivery preferred.
• Strong understanding of regional routes, traffic patterns, and delivery protocols.
• Ability to manage multiple stops efficiently and provide courteous service.
• Physically fit to handle loading/unloading and long periods of driving.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail when completing paperwork.

Salary

Pay varies based on route type, driver experience, and employment structure (company driver). Drivers can expect competitive per-mile rates, hourly wages, or percentage-based pay. Additional incentives may be offered for safe driving, fuel efficiency, and on-time delivery.
