CDL Floater Driver

Job Summary

We are hiring a dependable and adaptable CDL Floater Driver to fill in on various routes as needed, ensuring smooth operations and consistent freight coverage. This position is ideal for CDL holders who thrive in dynamic environments, are skilled in handling different truck types, and are available to travel across multiple locations. As a Floater Driver, you will play a critical role in maintaining delivery schedules and covering driver absences, vacation periods, or increased route demands.

Responsibilities

• Cover a variety of local, regional, and dedicated routes on short notice.
• Operate different types of commercial vehicles as assigned, including dry vans, reefers, or flatbeds.
• Follow route-specific instructions and company protocols for pickups and deliveries.
• Complete daily logs, delivery records, and electronic driver reports accurately and promptly.
• Adapt quickly to unfamiliar customers, routes, and delivery conditions.
• Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in every customer interaction.
• Report mechanical issues and assist in ensuring vehicle readiness and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Current and valid CDL Class A or B license with clean driving record.
• Minimum 6 months of recent commercial driving experience preferred.
• Experience operating multiple types of equipment is a strong plus.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, weekends, and travel outside of the home terminal.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations is mandatory.

Salary

Pay varies based on route type, driver experience, and employment structure (company driver). Drivers can expect competitive per-mile rates, hourly wages, or percentage-based pay. Additional incentives may be offered for safe driving, fuel efficiency, and on-time delivery.
